I have been attending juried art festivals throughout the US for ten years and have always done my woodwork with the idea that nature makes the most beautiful part of my work. I always use trees that I gather from the lakes and rivers of our country as driftwood, selecting pieces carefully and searching for character, using burls, roots and pieces with unusual attributes. |
Many of my works start long before I ever see them, gathering their uniqueness from up to 100 years floating, then washing ashore and waiting for me to find them. I fashion all my pieces by hand with the help of basic woodworking equipment, using mainly a bandsaw to cut the rough shape and on some pieces chisels to shape them further. My work has taken an interesting turn recently as I visited the northwest coast of the US and obtained beautiful old burl pieces that I use on my masks, boxes and vases. I hope you enjoy my work. Thank you for your consideration. |
